Marengo was one of the Emperor’s favourite horses – small but strong, he was acquired at the El Naseri stud farm at the tender age of six. A breed of Arabian horseshoe, Marengo embodies all the courage and speed that these creatures possess.
He carried Napoleon into multiple battles, including the decisive Battle of Marengo in the same named Italian city. The name Marengo was given as an homage to the victory of the troops there.
