Green Wheat Field, Auvers – Van Gogh – 1890
Van Gogh’s painting of Green Wheat Fields in Auvers was produced during his final few months spent in the peaceful hamlet located north of Paris. This village was a source of inspiration for his works, as were the rural areas of Arles and Saint-Rémy, and this artwork is no different. Auvers – Van Gogh made “pure” landscape paintings with minimal legible pattern, like in this painting, which depicts just a field of green and blue wheat almost Auvers – Van Gogh gently floating in the wind, interspersed with patches of yellow flowers. Details of the nearby Romanesque church, the town hall and local thatch-roof huts can be spied, capturing a real-life scene of the era.
