Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portrait painted in 1887 is a work of art that conveys the intensity of his emotions. While living in Paris, he created 24 self-portraits during his two-year stay. This small painting was done on prepared pictorial work rather than canvas. His distinctive brushwork captures what his response to Georges Seurat’s pointillist approach had become – a highly emotive language.
